On the sidelines of the 3rd Morocco-France Parliamentary Forum, under the theme "The Morocco-France Partnership: African Perspectives", the French delegation visited the Tanger-Med port platform on Saturday.
For the first vice-president of the French Senate, Phillipe Dallier, Tangier Med is an impressive port, logistics and industrial hub.
Phillipe Dallier, who was part of a delegation of French senators who came to learn about the development of Morocco, also emphasized the potential for economic development that this brings with more than 800 companies operating in several sectors. which have created around 70,000 jobs.
The French senator also said he was "impressed" by the interconnection of the port with rail and road links, including the opening soon of the first high-speed rail line (LGV), stating that this is a "global project with an overall vision, which is likely to guarantee the success of the port".
For her part, the senator of Seine-Maritime in Normandy, Catherine Morin-Desailly, who has already visited the Tanger Med port in 2013, noted the progress and development in a few years of this Moroccan project, correlated at the installation of the TGV.
"We see how Morocco is investing in the future," she said, while appreciating the quality of the port facilities, and measuring the importance of the development of maritime traffic. "Leveraging high quality infrastructure to enable good freight traffic is really great and encouraging," said the senator.
Tanger Med is a global logistics hub, located on the Strait of Gibraltar, offering processing capabilities for 9 million containers, 7 million passengers, 700,000 trucks and 1 million vehicles.
The port Tanger Med, which serves 174 ports in the world, has experienced a strong expansion of maritime traffic since its commissioning in 2007. It should be noted that the capacity of the port will be further strengthened with the extension of Tanger Med II which will be operational soon.
