In addition to the Port of Malaga, the ports of Algeciras and Motril were invited to the meeting
The Port of Malaga has participated in the annual meeting organized by Tangier Med in Morocco with export companies from the Maghreb country, mainly from the fruit and vegetable sector, in an event that represents an opportunity to boost the connectivity of the port of Malaga in North Africa.
Malaga, which has a daily ro-ro traffic connection with Tangier Med, was one of the ports invited to this event held in Agadir to publicize the opportunities offered by the port area in relation to merchandise traffic with Morocco , as reported in a press release.
This is one of the main challenges acquired by the Port Authority, in collaboration with the companies of its 'hinterland'. On this occasion, the company of Maritime and Customs Services, Servimad, which operates together with Baleària the current daily connection Málaga-Tanger Med and has a long history, also attended this meeting to support the actions of the public entity, corresponding to the development of logistics activity in the site.
The geostrategic situation of the Port of Málaga within the framework of the Strait of Gibraltar, the optimal meteorological conditions that allow it to operate every day, as well as the new accesses to the port and the high air, rail and road connectivity were the highlights during the meetings held.
The president of the Port Authority, Paulino Plata, insisted on "the opportunity to strengthen the lines of Malaga with the ports of North Africa to improve North-South traffic, which will suffer a spectacular increase in the coming years". Silver added that Malaga "is able to offer maximum efficiency in the transit time of the goods, in addition to offering intermodal services with Europe by rail".
In addition to the Port of Malaga, the ports of Algeciras and Motril were invited, as well as a group of Moroccan shipping companies, transporters, stockists and exporters.
