FRS recovers Kattegat for the line between Algeciras and Tanger Med during MARHABA 2017

The ferry Kattegat owned by the FRS shipping company, which currently runs the route between Motril and Tanger Med, will be incorporated in the middle of June to the line connecting this same Moroccan port with the one of Algeciras, thus reinforcing the service before the beginning of the Straits of Gibraltar Passage Operation (OPE) 2017.
Currently, this ship covers the route that starts from Granada, so it will be replaced by the “Ulusoy 5”, that will be incorporated into the German company as a new acquisition.
The delay in the repair of Al Andalus Expres has forced FRS to charter the Turkish flag ship for the Motril line. This ship is 164 metres length, 23.50 metres wide and 2,760 metres of cargo and vehicle storage, and it will permit the displacing of the Kattegat to Algeciras, where it has already made the same journey on other occasions.
This will not be the only move that the shipping companies make in the coming days in the Strait of Gibraltar, where the start of OPE 2017 will lead once again to the reinforcement of the lines and the arrival of new units facing the greatest migratory operation in the world, even shrank the possibility that some company can count with up to four ships to cover the route with the new port of Tangier in days of greater influx of passengers and vehicles.
