The port of Tangier Med announced on Wednesday in its Twitter account the recpeción of three new cranes for the new terminal TC4 of APM Maersk in Tanger Med II. It is a new batch delivery of the largest cranes in the world equipped with the latest technologies.
These are remote controlled STS cranes to create high productivity on one of the most strategically important trade routes in the world
The first three cranes of this type arrived from China last February. These are STS cranes controlled remotely to create high productivity in one of the most strategically important commercial routes in the world, such as the Strait of Gibraltar.
In principle, this new batch of cranes arrives in Tangier with the aim of entering into operation in 2019, date in which it is expected that the 12 structures commissioned by the Chinese company are already installed.
The STS cranes - manufactured by ZPMC in Shanghai - will be fully automated, including a remote crane operator located in an office building near the pier, and will feature Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology to provide maximum efficiency and productivity to APM Terminals customers.
This new equipment will reinforce port activities in a dock that has significantly increased its results so far this year
